Three years ago, the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) took a step towards enhancing the security of buildings and targets by publishing the National Standard – Building Design Code – Fire Safety Systems. The RGC identified fire as one of the biggest construction risks. The Ministry of Interior (MoI) then promulgated Prakas 4087 – Authorisation for use of the National Standard Book on Fire Safety Systems.
The Fire Code will set requirements for designs of the building to increase fire prevention. Mr Andrew Wallace, the Director of Compliance consulting National Quality Inspection Centre for Fire Safety Systems, will present on the new regulation and its implications at the Breakfast Talk on November 2.
Following this presentation, a Q&A session will take place with Mr. Samborana Mar, Managing Partner, Mar & Associates, Member of the MOI Working Group for all fire related Prakas and Internal Lawyer of the Ministry of Interior; and Mr. Carlo Santoro, Associate Professor in Architecture at the American University Phnom Penh.
This Q&A session will be moderated by Mr Michel Cassagnes, Managing Director, Archetype Cambodia and Chairman of EuroCham Real Estate and Construction Committee.
