Credit cards have been the defacto mode of payment for travelers in the past, but there could be fees attached and there's no guarantee establishments will accept them. For example, cards are supported by 52,354 card-processing machines in the country, along with 5,600 ATMS. Compared to the 3.3 million locations that accept QR payment, the advantage is clear.
The new app allows for tourists to deposit funds to their Bakong account at banks or hotels, and luckily, the traditional practice of refusing banknotes with even minor deformities appears to be on the way out to favour streamlining and convenience. Tourists are allowed to spend $1,000 per day using the system, which can be increased to $3,000 per day after confirming their identity. |

- About 70 Khmer artifacts, including Hindu and Buddhist masterpieces from the pre-Angkor and Angkor periods, have been returned to Cambodia. These priceless stone statues were stolen from ancient temples after the war and sold to people and institutions worldwide. The collection includes mythical warriors from the Mahabharata and statues of Hindu deities like Shiva, Uma, and Ardhanarishvara from the ancient city of Koh Ker.
- Cambodia has solidified its position as the world's second-largest producer of raw cashew nuts, surpassing previous records with a total production of 830,000 tonnes in the first seven months of 2024, as reported by the Cashew Nut Association of Cambodia (CAC). Cambodia's cashew production has surged due to improved farming practices and expanded cultivation.
- Recent unrest in Bangladesh has shaken the garment industry in the region, with suppliers in Bangladesh scrambling to make up lost time due to a violent political situation. When shipments from the country stalled, several companies started shifting orders to Cambodia and other countries.

Bumrungrad Health Briefs #34: Understanding Endometriosis: Symptoms, Causes, and Treatment Options
Endometriosis is a chronic condition affecting 190 million women worldwide and up to 10% of women of reproductive age, with a higher prevalence in women with pelvic pain (around 60%), and severe pain after take oral contraceptive around (around 75%). It occurs when tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, causing pain, inflammation, and scar tissue. Commonly affected areas include the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and the pelvic lining.
Symptoms and Causes Symptoms of endometriosis can vary but often include: - Pelvic pain, especially during menstrual periods or during intercourse
- Painful bowel movements or urination during menstruation
- Heavy menstrual bleeding or bleeding between periods

Effective from 11 March 2024, this new Sub-decree on VAT shall cover the rules and procedures on the implementation and collection of VAT on supply of taxable goods/services in Cambodia, including the updates on the VAT rules and regulations previously covered under VAT Sub-Decree no 114, dated 24 December 1999. |
