Museum and theatres to reopen Friday

Minister of Culture and Fine Arts Phoeurng Sackona has informed that museum, cinema and other performance art or theatre will open again starting on Friday, January 1.

Earlier, Sackona confirmed the opening of cinema after Legend Cinemas and Major Cineplex posted on their Facebook page that the government has permitted its businesses to reopen, however, no museum or drama theatre being mentioned.

Management of Legend Cinemas has informed Khmer Times that customers are encouraged to practice social distancing during queuing for tickets, food and watching the movie in the hall.

“The distance of 1.5 meters has to be followed and we reduce the capacity of viewers allowed inside. We disinfect between movie screening. Apart from the masks, viewers or customers are encouraged to bring either alcohol spray or when entering the cinema and temperature will be checked,” Legend cinema’s management said.

Sackona added that as the announcement made public, establishments and people both need to respect the safety measures required by the health authorities such as social distancing, hand washing and wearing of masks.
