The Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority (PPWSA) is considering the possibility of waiving water tariffs for workers and students living in rented homes in red zones in Phnom Penh and Takhmao City, Kandal Province.
Sim Sitha, Director General of Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority, said last night that that in response to the call of Prime Minister Hun Sen yesterday, PPWSA has to invoke its corporate social responsibility for people in difficulties.
Sitha said “According to the call of the Prime Minister this (Saturday) morning, the Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority will help ease the burden by helping to waive the water tariff for three months – March to May, for workers and students living in rented houses in the red zones.”
According to the assessment of the rental houses of workers and students in Phnom Penh and Takhmao in the red zones, approximately 870 houses will benefit from this decision.
Sitha stressed that the waiver is only applicable to workers and students living in rented houses in the red zones in Phnom Penh and Takhmao City.
